Best Steakhouses in Charlotte: 13 Spots for Your Next Night Out

Author:  Jamie Milam

Date: June 14, 2025

I'm a steak and potatoes kind of girl. Seriously, I'd eat steak every night of the week if my doctor didn't insist on other sources of protein! I like my steak cooked medium, juicy, and hold the steak sauce, please. In fact, I'm a believer that if it's a good steak, it shouldn't need steak sauce—so if I ask for it, you should be offended. ?A quality steak cooked perfectly to your liking is essential, of course. But a good night out at the steakhouse also depends on other factors: service, location, side dishes, drink offerings, and overall vibe! So, whether you're like me and don't mind going and sitting at the bar solo to have a good steak, booking a fancy girls' night out, or need a new date night spot, here are 13 of the best steakhouses in Charlotte to check out.

13 Must-Try Steakhouses in Charlotte

Choosing the right steakhouse in Charlotte for your night out can be tough. We have so many amazing options. So, to help you narrow it down, I've compiled some of the best steakhouses around Charlotte and why they're so special! So, whether you're like me and don't mind going and sitting at the bar solo to have a good steak, booking a fancy girls' night out, or need a new date night spot, here are 13 of the best steakhouses in Charlotte to check out."

1. The Porter's House

Location: 7417 Waverly Walk Avenue, CharlotteMust-try menu item: 36-ounce porterhouse steak.Insider info: BYOW. Seriously. One thing I love about this spot is that I can bring my own bottle of Caymus—or whatever wine I'm feeling—and only pay a $20 corkage fee. It's a lot cheaper than buying your own bottle at a steakhouse, and you can have exactly what you want.Hands down, The Porter's House is my top steakhouse in Charlotte. I've been here many, many times and have many amazing memories of this spot. Every single time I go to The Porter's House we get the... drumroll, please... 36-ounce porterhouse steak. It's huge. It comes with two family-style sides like mashed potatoes and vegetables, so you can easily share it between 2-3 people. In the past, they've also cut it for us tableside.

2. Steak 48

Location: 4425 Sharon Road, CharlotteMust-try menu item: Pair your steak with some seafood from Steak 48's raw bar, with options like lobster or fresh oysters.Insider info: Steak 48's open kitchen concept lets you see everything in action.A well-seasoned friend of mine—who’s lived enough fabulous stories to fill a memoir (or three)—once told me that Steak 48 isn’t just one of the top steakhouses in Charlotte, it’s also the spot for a single gal to enjoy a prime cut and perhaps bump into a well-dressed executive or two at the bar. Chic ambiance, top-tier service, and an upscale crowd? Don’t mind if I do.

3. Chima

Location: 139 S Tyron Street, CharlotteMust-try menu item: The Rodizio meats served tableside are no doubt the star of the show, but don't forget about the gourmet salad bar of sides to break up different steak options.Insider info: Chima has some great events and specials to check out, including (my favorite), Wine Wednesday! We couldn't possibly skip Chima Steakhouse—who can resist a parade of sizzling meats carved tableside by handsome gauchos? This spot is the place to go for good food and a good time. Just flip your table's token to green and let the magic begin! Sirloin, filet mignon, ribeye, and more, all brought out and carved tableside. It's an elevated buffet experience—perfect for a girl's night out. Equal parts indulgent, interactive, and just cheeky enough to keep you grinning between bites. And if it’s a date night? Well, they say the way to his heart is through his stomach!

4. Sullivan's Steakhouse

Location: 1928 South Boulevard, Suite 200, CharlotteMust-try menu item: Save a bit of room after your delicious steak for some homemade desserts. They've got classics like bananas foster bread pudding, key lime pie, and carrot cake.Insider info: To maintain an elevated environment and experience, Sullivan's maintains attire standards. Hats, tank tops, flip-flops, or other overly casual clothing are not permitted. In many ways, Sullivan's is exactly what you think of when looking for a top-tier Charlotte steakhouse. It's got a great atmosphere with the occasional live music performance, a varied menu with fresh ingredients, and amazing cuts of steak—of course. But another amazing feature of Sullivan's is its location in South End, an energizing part of the city, known for both its arts scene and nightlife. So, when you head to Sullivan's for your next night out, do me a favor and drop by Canopy Cocktails & Garden before or after your dinner. Their drinks are amazing! I love the "Drink If You Pear," but if you happen to catch their seasonal drink, "White Girl Wasted," do it.And, if you hit up Canopy for drinks before dinner and want a unique experience post-dinner, ask the bartender for a car to their speakeasy, Syn, which requires a reservation. They'll let you know where the first entrance is, then the rest is up to you to find! It's such a fun night out.

5. STK Steakhouse

Location: 201 S. College Street, CharlotteMust-try menu item: It's got to be their mac & cheese side! Choose from traditional, bacon, or lobster—yum.Insider info: STK has a $45.00 power lunch option—a three-course menu for $45, guaranteed to get you in and out in 45 minutes. Perfect for busy professionals.Chic interior, handcrafted cocktails, and high-quality steaks? There's a lot to love about STK Steakhouse. But what sets STK apart from other Charlotte steakhouses is its commitment to creating an amazing vibe and atmosphere. They have an on-site DJ that creates an infectious, fun atmosphere, along with an environment designed to encourage guests to interact with each other. It's a great spot if you're out on the town, either flying solo or with your girls!

Insider info: Located in Uptown Charlotte, this is an awesome spot to catch dinner if you're seeing a show at the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center, just two blocks away. The Cellar is unique on this list for its laid-back gastro-pub environment. Exposed brick and warm candlelight make it a cozy and intimate venue, inspired by the underground spaces of the Prohibition era. This spot sources many menu items from local farms throughout North and South Carolina, ensuring high-quality ingredients every time. Check back in throughout the year to make the most of their rotating menu!
